I am a Registered Dietitian and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). I currently work as a Sports Dietitian and Strength & Conditioning Coach at a Division I University.
I started Shannon Mendez Nutrition to help adolescent athletes learn to fuel their bodies for optimal sports performance, in addition to proper growth and development, since most adolescent students are not taught the basics of human nutrition, let alone Sports Nutrition, as part of their K-12 education.

My program, The Teenage Athlete Nutrition Protocol, is designed to fill that gap in knowledge, making you more prepared for collegiate athletics, as well as a healthier adulthood beyond competitive sports. Nutrition is definitely the “X” factor in athletic performance...I am so excited for you to LEVEL UP!!!

My Story

Hi, I’m Shannon Mendez, a Sports Dietitian and Strength & Conditioning Coach with a passion for helping teenage athletes fuel their bodies for peak performance. With a unique blend of experience in sports nutrition, strength training, and performance coaching, I’ve spent years guiding athletes to train smarter, fuel better, and compete at their highest level.

My journey has been anything but traditional. From Regional Manager at lululemon athletica to yoga teacher and massage therapist, to earning my Master’s degree in Nutritional Science, I’ve built a diverse skill set that allows me to approach performance from every angle.


I have had the incredible opportunity to build a Sports Nutrition Program from scratch, as the first and only Sports Dietitian at the Division I program I currently work at—launching fueling stations, mentoring future sports nutritionists through an intern program, and even creating a student-athlete garden to provide fresh produce. On top of that, I’ve served as the head Strength & Conditioning Coach for elite collegiate teams, helping athletes develop strength, endurance, and resilience both on and off the field.


In 2025, I launched Shannon Mendez Nutrition, an online business dedicated to helping teenage athletes take control of their nutrition and optimize their performance. I created The Teenage Athlete Nutrition Protocol, a 12-week program that teaches young athletes exactly what to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat to fuel their training, maximize recovery, and reach their full potential.

Because when you fuel like an elite athlete, you perform like one.
